Finding Magic in Stillness: My Healing Experience with Ellina Johnson

I entered Ellina Johnson's beautiful ohana space tucked into her serene property in Kula. The room itself was small, cozy, and inviting—quiet magic in its simplicity. A furry blanket and plush bolsters were set up perfectly for my comfort, and as I laid down, Haleakalā loomed gracefully out the open doors, grounding me deeper into my body. The gentle silence, paired with the sun's warmth pouring onto my left hand, centered me immediately. My body felt something it had been craving for weeks: stillness.

Ellina sat with me for a moment to explain her approach—an intentional blend of reiki, shadow work, breathwork, and manifestation. I told her where I was at: tired but somehow alive, joyful, and electric. I wanted to find balance—saying yes to the abundance in my life while honoring the rest I needed.

She opened the space with a spoken prayer, and as she began reiki, the energy was palpable. My right hand pulsed while my left felt like it was on fire—powerful sensations I welcomed fully as they moved through me. I hovered somewhere between sleep and wake, my mind quiet, my body open.

Near the end of the session, Ellina gently guided me to ask a question out loud. As I did, she pulled cards that she laid across my body. The message was direct, no fluff, no ambiguity: "Find time to rest." A reminder so simple, yet so necessary, it almost made me laugh.

I left feeling lighter, aligned, and blissed out, carrying that magic with me throughout the day. I wandered botanical gardens upcountry, let myself nap in the misty cool air at Poli Poli, and embraced every ounce of stillness my body had been craving.
