My name is Sophie Sellers, and I'm thrilled to be the co-owner of Story Cafe, a vibrant community space on the North Shore of Maui.

My journey here was shaped by a love for exploration and connection. I first came to Maui after traveling through Southeast Asia and Central America. While I loved being on the road, I really craved somewhere to call home. The island's natural beauty and welcoming community convinced me to stay.

Story Cafe, which I co-own with two wonderful partners, is the embodiment of my deep passion for bringing people together. It's more than just a cafe; it's a nurturing space where community bonds are forged over cups of coffee and shared stories. When I'm not at the cafe, you can find me dedicated to another of my heart's callings - working with a local non-profit to help feed our Maui 'ohana.

The ocean, the land, and the people of Maui continue to inspire me daily. I'm grateful to be part of this vibrant community and to have the opportunity to give back through my work.

  1. Orange Cream Cold Brew from Story.

  1. There's something magical about our summer menu at Story Cafe, and the star of the show? Our Orange Cream Cold Brew. The house-made orange and vanilla bean syrup paired with our perfectly brewed cold brew is my daily indulgence. It's like summer in a glass, and I can't get enough of it.

  2. Baking for Friends and Family.

There's an inexplicable joy in pulling a tray of fresh cookies from the oven or slicing into a loaf of warm bread. The smiles on the faces of friends and family as they bite into these homemade treats? That's the best feeling.

  3. Volleyball at Baldwin.

My love affair with volleyball has been rekindled on the courts at Baldwin. It's more than just a game; it's a way to connect with old passions and new friends. The thrill of a perfect set, the satisfaction of a solid spike - it's all there, but now with the added bonus of Maui's perfect outdoor backdrop. It's a reminder of why I fell in love with this island - the ability to stay active and have fun, all while soaking in the beauty around us.

  4. Surfing.

Catching waves on the West Side is my idea of pure bliss. Longboarding with my boyfriend, who's an incredible surfer, has become one of my favorite pastimes. It's not just about riding the waves; it's about the connection with the ocean, the thrill of the ride, and the shared experiences. Maui's surf was one of the things that drew me here, and it continues to be a source of joy and learning.

  5. Sushi at Isana.

Isana, with its fantastic happy hour and proximity to our new place, has become our go-to dinner spot. It is a local gem with fresh caught local fish and wonderful staff.

  6. My Pup.

My 14-year-old Chihuahua mix is the heart and soul of my days. Despite her age, she's a bundle of energy, always ready for a beach run or a day at the cafe. She loves to charm our customers and soak up the attention.

  7. Reading on the Beach.

Give me a good book, some sunshine, and the sound of waves, and I'm in heaven. It's my perfect recipe for relaxation and rejuvenation. Losing myself in a story while feeling the warmth of Maui's sun is my idea of bliss.
